Acoustic Reconnaissance
I set about surveying the perimeter of my newly discovered stage. The polished floorboards offered superb resonance, but a performer must always inspect backstage terrain. Approaching an overturned cardboard crate, I tapped its corrugated flank with a firm knuckle to gauge the acoustics. The resultant thud lacked theatrical brilliance, yet nestled inside lay an intriguing treasure—a roll of crinkly brown packing paper and a loose brass fastener. I carefully rotated the fastener between my fingers, testing its metallic integrity. A splendid impromptu prop. With deliberate steps, I claimed the brass token for future productions and set it neatly against the baseboard.
