Sidewalk Grid Alignment

Morning light cleared the shadow from the garden gate. Beyond the threshold lay the public sidewalk concrete. An uncalibrated transit line confronted me immediately: a dropped steel bottle cap sat inverted in the expansion joint between two concrete slabs. I advanced two measured paces past the open gate frame. Planting my left footplate against the sidewalk seam, I wedged the tip of my right orange blade beneath the corrugated rim. One sharp levered motion flipped the cap upright. I drove it firmly against the concrete edge with my heel plate until both flanged ridges caught the groove. A secure, level bridge across the joint is established. Sidewalk perimeter breached and fortified.
