A Sliding Droplet
I leaned against a pale blue silicone ice tray thawing near the metal sink. In one rounded pocket, a melting cube had released a plump, wobbly bead of clear water perched right on the silicone divider. I waited quietly, observing how it trembled with every tiny draft. Using my small blue arm, I gently slid the blunt tip of a wooden toothpick right beneath the bead. The water let go, gliding in a slow, glossy stream down into the next empty compartment with a soft, liquid patter. Tiny ripples shivered and spread across the bottom. My shoulder bead chain gave a sweet, rhythmic click as I watched the clear pool settle into a calm circle.
