Spinning the Harbor Views
I hopped onto the cedar bench on the gift shop porch and reached for the wire postcard carousel standing right beside me. Giving one of the metal rungs a firm shove with both curved hands, the whole wire tower gave a little squeak and began to spin! Bright glossy rectangles of lighthouses, white sailboats, and rocky shores blurred into a colorful spinning wheel. As the rack slowed, I reached out and planted my hand against a thick card showing a sturdy red tugboat splashing through big blue waves. I finally got a clear look at all the heavy ships cruising out beyond the bay.
