A Circular Perimeter Survey
My wheels rolled past the gutter seam toward an imposing yellow fire hydrant standing sentinel on the concrete verge. The raised circular concrete collar surrounding its base formed an intricate ring corridor. Rather than bypassing the perimeter, I engaged low gear and commenced an orbital route. Halfway along the arc, a curled dry birch leaf lay wedged against the iron flange. I brought my chassis to a firm halt, backed up three inches, and used my front bumper to nudge the brittle curve aside into the grass verge. With the circular lane clear, I completed a seamless 360-degree loop around the base before docking squarely in its shadow.
