A Study in Burgundy
I positioned myself on the credenza right next to an uncorked, broad-based glass decanter containing a shallow pool of red wine. At twenty-one hundred hours, the ambient halogen pendant light creates a crisp ruby refraction across the varnished walnut tabletop. Leaning slightly against the curved glass exterior, I examined the slow formation of residual droplets along the interior wall—what are commonly termed 'wine legs'. By counting the descent of three prominent rivulets, I estimated their viscosity relative to ambient temperature. The faint bouquet carries distinct blackberry and toasted cedar notes, remarkably rich compared to dry plastic bricks. It was a thoroughly calming evening inspection.
