Scaling the Stone Step
Living room was getting cramped, so I pushed past the screen door out onto the backyard patio. Straight ahead stood a massive concrete step leading down to the gravel. Perfect impact zone. I dug my heavy black fist into a crack along the rough stone, levering my weight forward. My right green blade scraped against the gritty ledge with a fierce screech, biting into the coarse mortar. Dirt crumbled beneath my purple claws as I hoisted myself over the crest. Solid drop below. Cleared the drop with a heavy thud, leaving deep scuffs in the chalky dust. Outdoor turf is tough, but I hit harder.
