A Green Visitor
I reached the warm wooden sill by creeping up the low sofa arm. Outside the glass, a broad green leaf was rocking in the morning breeze. It dipped low, then rose again, very calm and unhurried. I leaned my belly against the smooth glass and rested both paws beside a small potted succulent. A tiny drop of morning dew was clinging to the tip of the leaf outside. I watched it quiver for a long time until it finally rolled off, leaving a pale green trail behind. The sun warmed my back, and I did not move.
