A Curious Acorn
I trotted past the front threshold and slipped down the porch steps onto the flagstone garden path to see what lay beyond the walls today. Resting in a mossy groove between two stones was a glossy brown acorn with its textured cap still firmly on. I paused, offering a gentle, patient tilt of my head to study its smooth shell. Stepping closer, I nudged the pointed tip softly with my muzzle. It rolled forward with a quiet click, stopping snugly against a curled dried leaf, releasing a faint, earthy autumn fragrance.
