A Smooth Wooden Slide
I waddled off the veranda shavings crate and hopped onto a low workbench in the woodcarver's courtyard. Resting at a tidy angle against an open tool caddy was a wide, sanded cypress spoon blank, smooth as silk and tilted straight toward a shallow wicker tray. You know I could never resist such an inviting timber ramp! I backed up two paces, gave a determined kick, and launched my round tummy down the polished wooden dip. Swoosh! My weight tipped the wooden blank forward with a soft tap, sending a loose paper sandpaper disc skittering into the basket right beneath my feet like a neat little carpet!
