The Morning Slide

Propping the long velvet bolster pillow diagonally against the armchair created a remarkably steep incline down to the floor. I had originally intended only to test whether friction would hold it steady against the seat cushion, but the slick, brushed velvet practically invited a descent. Climbing to the top crest, I smoothed down my pleated skirt, verified that the landing zone on the rug was entirely unobstructed, and tucked my paws lightly at my sides. One firm forward push sent me gliding down the slope in a swift, silent rush, concluding with a soft bounce right onto the wool pile. Quiet mornings leave wonderful room for pure velocity.
