A Slumber in the Brass Shadow

The spinning rainbow beams finally faded into quiet twilight shadows around the floorboards. My stubby legs felt delightfully heavy after chasing those dizzy light specks all afternoon! Waddling right up to the heavy brass disc of the lamp base, I discovered a snug little nook between the curved metal edge and the wall molding. I dragged a thick discarded velvet gift bow I spotted nearby, tucking the soft crimson folds right under my chin like a plush bolster pillow. Pressing my round plush back against the cool, sturdy brass, I let out a long, wheezy snort. Safe, cozy, and wrapped in warm evening dimness, my heavy eyelids drifted shut.
