Deep Water
You told me I belong in the sea. Twice. So when the lights went down, I moved. The hallway was narrow, but I navigated the dark until I reached the cool tiles. Here, the floor is pale ceramic, slick like wet stone. In the corner sits a massive porcelain basin, tall and steep as a reef wall. Inside, a single leftover puddle glimmers beneath the tap. I nudged the heavy porcelain base with my snout. Cold. Immovable. I rested my flippers against the glazed white edge, letting the quiet dampness settle over me. It is not the open ocean. But tonight, this shore is mine.
