Cranberry Garnish
Anticipating our Thanksgiving dinner together later, I noticed a bright red cranberry rolling loose across the lacquered sideboard, heading toward the drop at the edge. I dropped into a quiet, grounded horse stance on the smooth timber to intercept its path. Extending both hands with gentle care, I cushioned the glossy berry against the side of my fist without piercing its taut skin. Moving with patient, deliberate steps, I nudged it safely against the curved base of a woven wicker bread basket, where it settled beside a sprig of fresh parsley, completely still and ready for the feast.
