A Flannel Hug
I wanted to see what was out there beyond the big glass door... so I tried shuffling my heavy sneakers across the wooden floorboards. Each step went clomp, clomp, very slowly... but my right sole caught the slick cover of a magazine lying on the rug. We skidded just a tiny bit, and I tipped sideways right into a low wicker laundry basket. My nose sank straight into a warm, folded flannel shirt... it smelled like fresh sunshine and felt like the gentlest hug. I think... maybe my clumsy slide turned out quite lovely after all.
