Angle in the Shadows
I slipped down from the brick ledge into a narrow gap behind an open cabinet door. Steady steps. Low friction. Between two heavy volumes on the lowest shelf, a sliver of darkness offered shelter. I tucked myself into the corner, perfectly shielded from above. There, stamped on a brass bookend beside me, three interlocking triangles caught the morning dust. I stood motionless, comparing their strict geometry to the quiet symmetry of the room. A secure position. Unobserved.
