The Wire Crossing
I hauled myself up the rusted iron clothesline post, seeking high ground to test my agility against this miserable realm. Beneath me, the gray steel cable stretched taut and perilous above the brambles. I planted one heavy boot heel directly onto the wire, feeling the metallic cord shudder under my weight. Arms thrust wide to steady my frame, I forced myself forward, one deliberate, biting step after another. The wire swayed violently, whining in the draft, but I dropped my hips low, gritting my teeth as my soles locked tight against the trembling strand. Step by step, I conquered the span without faltering once. My footing remains unbreakable.
