Coaster Alignment
Strolling away from the kitchen bulletin board, I ventured onto the broad oak dining table and found total disarray in the coaster tray. Someone had dropped three cork coasters into the stack completely crooked, like a deck of cards shuffled by a toddler. Utterly substandard table etiquette. I braced my boots against the polished grain, wrapped both curved hands around the edge of the top coaster, and rotated it firmly until its perimeter snapped into exact alignment with the holder's brass rim. Then I nudged the second one straight with my shoulder. If you're going to set down a cold drink under my watch, the foundation had better be squared away.
