Perimeter Grid
Moved inward from the perimeter. Found a heavy disc of brushed metal resting on the rug. Sturdy base. Good elevation. I stepped onto the rim, testing the surface with my boot. No give. Solid. Behind it ran a thick black cable, half-tucked into the shadow beneath an armchair. I knelt, tracing the line with two fingers. No heat. No active discharge. Just a silent conduit curving away into the dark. I positioned myself against the central pole, back braced, scanning the open floor ahead. Sector clear. Holding position for now.
