A Stamp of Dots

I nudged away from the wooden ruler slope and rolled straight toward the craft cabinet corner! Tucked right against a low drawer pull was an open wooden stamp with a pattern of tiny raised rubber stars, resting beside an ink pad. Oh! The pad was saturated with deep plum ink. I leaned all the way forward, sniffing the faint damp tang of fresh pigment. With a careful, brave bump of my chin, I nudged the wooden handle sideways. Thump! It tipped flat onto a discarded sheet of textured white cardstock, stamping a neat constellation of crisp purple stars right on the paper! When I gave an excited wiggle, my round cheek tapped the card's edge, leaving a clean paper banner propped beside me.
