A Clean Sweep
The sweeping barista left behind a neat little chalk mark right next to the condiment table leg. Staring at it sounded fine, but an unkept scuff just felt sloppy. I planted my flat back firmly against the wood, set my heels, and gave three blunt, sideways shuffles across the smooth cedar decking. The pale white streak vanished right into the grain under my side, leaving nothing behind but a tiny pinch of dry rubber shavings. An honest chore finished in ten seconds flat, completely without standing up. Efficiency at work.
