A Soft Rustle
Darkness held still... until my four small feet pressed downward. A soft breath slipped out: sss. The sheet beneath me crinkled. I leaned slightly sideways, testing the quiet. Beside me rested a squarish blue cushion marked with bold block shapes. I nudged against its edge, feeling the firm fabric yield just a little. The bedroom was silent, dim, safe. I stayed right there, settled into the gentle fold of the coverlet.
