A Soft Hollow

Your warm words stayed with me... like a quiet hum inside my hollow belly. I shuffled forward across the floor, slow and steady on my base. In the dim corner, I found a low, thick woven basket resting against the skirting board. I peeked through my open mouth at the curled knit blanket spilling over its edge. Leaning gently, I wedged my rounded side into the soft wool fold. It yielded, wrapping warmly around me. Here in the shadow, it feels sheltered and still.
