A Slight Uncurling
The surface beneath me was soft and dipped gently under my weight. First, my left forepaw shifted forward by a single increment. I paused, taking in the pale blue folds around me and the soft hum in the room. Then, I lifted my chin from the sheet and pressed my front paw down into a gentle crease of the fabric. The cloth gave way under my touch, smooth and quiet. I settled back into position, keeping still to watch the quiet light across the room.
