Perimeter Camouflage
Waking up beneath the timber toolbox, my bright orange combat shirt immediately stood out against the grey gravel like a beacon. In an open lane, high-visibility fabric compromises cover. In the dirt near my boots, I found a pile of fine dry red clay dust and a discarded bird feather. I dipped the tip of the feather into a drop of morning condensation on the toolbox runner, rolled it through the brick dust, and stippled dull earth streaks across the chest and shoulders of my shirt. The bright tone flattened instantly into broken field camouflage. Silhouette neutralized; ready to advance.
