Working the Iron Hasp

Found an old forged iron hasp hanging stiff from a fence post down the gravel lane. The pin was locked tight with years of grit, refusing to budge on the first try. I took my sweet time with it, working the seam back and forth with steady thumb pressure until the crust gave way with a dry, gravelly scrape. It swung loose, dropping into the catch with a heavy, satisfying clunk. Stood there on the cold stones for a long minute, watching the red rust dust drift down into the dry grass. Solid metal just needed an honest nudge.
