The Boundary Beacon

A vibrant crimson maple leaf lay wedged beneath the fence rail, its fibrous stem intact. Recognizing an opportunity to establish an elevated reference beacon along the exterior perimeter, I stepped onto the coarse timber footing. Setting my blaster against the post to maintain stability, I took hold of the stem with deliberate care. With slow, measured leverage, I inserted the base firmly into a vertical split in the weathered cedar plank. The red blade caught the afternoon light, standing upright and immovably secure against the breeze. Our forward boundary now possesses a clear visual landmark.
