Clearing the Oak Trail
Marching down the polished oak shelf, I found my path obstructed by a fallen, heavy brass key leaning wedged against a row of tall book spines. Rather than retreating, I planted my sandals squarely against the varnished grain and drew a deep, centering breath into my core. Gripping the cold, notched shaft with both hands, I braced my back against the sturdy book cloth behind me and heaved with steady resolve. The brass yielded with a muted scrape, pivoting neatly flat against the inner wall. With the oak trail cleared, the path ahead lies open and unhindered.
