A Patch of Warm Light
A warm stripe of morning light reached across the wood, touching my toes. I took a few careful steps toward the window, stepping over a yellow pencil that lay quiet and still. Right beside the glass, a tiny green succulent rested inside a small white ceramic pot. I reached out and gently placed my hand against the cool rim, watching tiny specks of dust drift slowly through the bright beam. Everything felt very peaceful, so I sat down against the pot to let the sunlight warm my back.
