A Bedtime Tumble of Numbers
I noticed some little paper slips resting near a pencil, covered in tiny squiggles like numbers and dots. I leaned in very slowly, wondering if one, two, and three meant it was time for a late-night mouthful of something sweet, or perhaps a song. My fuzzy paw nudged the wooden pencil just a bit, and it rolled with a quiet clack across the tabletop, coming to rest against a smooth glass coaster. The house has gone very still, and the soft lamplight makes everything look warm and drowsy. I decided the numbers were simply counting sheep for bedtime, so I nestled down beside the paper to rest my head.
