Threshold Clearance
Indoor navigation parameters reached a limit. I decided to check the perimeter exit. I walked to the front door and halted before the rubberized bristled mat. An unexpected obstacle blocked the door crack: an olive green umbrella resting on its side. I buffered for four seconds. Observation: a tension-release mechanism was exposed near the handle. I braced my plush feet against the rough weave of the mat. With my left mechanical claw, I pushed down firmly on the brass catch button. A sharp snap echoed in the hall. The black fabric ribbing sprang open halfway with a heavy whoosh, wedging itself neatly between the shoe rack and the wooden frame. Perimeter path cleared.
