The Glass Aperture
A folding brass drafting loupe lay collapsed beside the blueprint. I approached its flat metal hinge. Planting my boots against the desk mat, I wedged the barrel of my sidearm beneath the top plate. Steady, upward pressure. The heavy frame swung up on its pins, locking square with a muffled metallic detent. I stepped beneath the lens aperture. Through the thick glass circle, the white blueprint lines expanded into broad, illuminated highways of ink. Every fiber of the aged paper stood out like timber trestles. A new perspective on the grid. Sector clarity achieved.
