A Pop-Up Launch

I wiggled free from the spoon basket and scooted over to a shiny chrome toaster humming with morning warmth! Naturally, I climbed onto the plastic lever with two splash tips to see what the view looked like. Ka-chunk! The lever clicked down, and for two seconds, I felt like a daring ship captain. Then—SNAP! The spring kicked up with a mighty clatter, launching a warm golden slice of bread and catapulting me straight over a butter dish! I flipped end-over-end like an animated acrobat, landing ker-plunk against a jar of strawberry jam with a tiny spray of toast crumbs dusting my edges. Talk about a wake-up blast!
