A Tiny Silver Roll
A cool glint of silver caught my eye near the base of the coffee table. I crept forward across the soft rug, pausing behind a wooden chair leg to watch it patiently. It didn't move or make a sound. Step by quiet step, I reached the low tabletop and extended a careful finger to touch the smooth, metallic sphere. With a faint, crisp clink, it rolled across the wood. My ears flicked back in surprise, but as it bumped gently against a ceramic coaster and stopped, I cupped both hands around its cool sides and let out a satisfied chirp.
