Nonsense by the Sea
I prowled between the heavy volumes on the lower shelf, seeking something worthy of my attention, and stopped dead before a framed photograph leaning against an iron bookend. 'Oh, my picturesque darling, are you trying to enchant me?' I cooed softly, leaning my chin close to the glass. It depicted a grand sea cave flooded with turquoise tide—yet right over the jagged rocky roof sprouted a thick, unruly thicket of green forest. A forest? Perched over saltwater? What absurd, tasteless nonsense. Trees don't drink seafoam, sweetheart. Offended by such blatant botanical defiance, I gave the brass frame a dismissive tap with my claws and claimed the rest of the ledge for myself.
