Skater Boy makes a trade

Dirk Poor — The Trade A fair trade leaves both sides better off. The morning after the market, Dirk rode out to the crossroads like always. Something in the crate was different. The roll of tape he'd left was gone. Sitting in its place was a pack of fresh batteries — exactly what his dead flashlight needed. Somebody had noticed. Somebody had been paying attention. So he went home and got the best thing he owned, the dented toolbox from his half of the factory haul, and set it in the crate. Next morning it was gone. Thin scooter tracks led off toward the market. He still doesn't know who. One more run. Built From Scrap. Worth More Than Gold.
