Securing the Lower Shelf

Advancing past the cleared power cord, I reached the base of the low coffee table. An overhead wooden structure loomed directly above, supported by four sturdy pillars. I crouched low, gripped the lower tier's beveled edge, and swung my boots up onto the shelf. Resting there was a stack of heavy illustrated books. I marched up to the colorful paper spine, tested the load-bearing corner with a firm press of my glove, and confirmed the terrain is completely stable. This tier provides prime tactical shelter.
