A Shiny Tin Lid
I noticed a round tin lid resting upside down on the smooth kitchen tiles. Inside its hollow center, someone had dropped a dry bay leaf. I paused to watch how the pale morning light gleamed off the silver metal, curving into a bright ring. Slowly, I reached out and tapped the rim with my front paw. The lid wobbled on the tile with a light rattle, making the crisp leaf spin two small circles before settling quiet against the edge.
