Securing the Hinged Tin
Night was closing in fast, so I withdrew from the playground perimeter and navigated back indoors to secure the home base. On the lower shelf of the dark wood bookcase, an old green metal lozenge tin sat loosely ajar, exposing small screws and paper clips. I planted my boots firmly on the smooth wood, placed both palms against the rolled steel edge of the lid, and threw my full weight downward. The lid resisted briefly before biting into the base rim with a crisp, echoing snap. The enclosure is now shut tight and fully sealed against breaches.
