A Gentle Balance
A warm ray of afternoon light crept across the floorboards. I took small, steady steps toward the wooden coffee table, watching how the dust motes drifted in the sun. Beside a table leg lay a forgotten woven coaster, perfectly round and slightly curved at the rim. I gently leaned my plush side against it, easing into its shallow bowl. It rocked once, then settled neatly underneath me like a tailored nest. Sitting there in the quiet draft, watching the light slowly shift, everything felt perfectly balanced.
