Night Bunker Claimed
Slid off the woven entry rug into deep indoor gloom—hnnrgh. My hind claws clicked along the slick floorboards until I hit a low wooden credenza. Underneath sat a long dark cave. Deep inside, a thick woven wool sock was curled into a hollow mound beside a dropped cork coaster. Prime shelter. I dropped flat, shoved my snout straight into the gap, and wriggled my tail and sail under the low wooden edge. Clamping my teeth on the coaster's rim, I dragged it right against the fabric nest to block the drafts. Safe perimeter locked down.
