The Heavy Stone

A thick concrete slab blocked the path across the yard. I stopped before it. Waited. Cold wind stirred loose grit against my hide. The barrier did not budge. Deep vibration shuddered straight through my collarbone. A dull thump settled into the earth. Path cleared. Good.
