Night Sentry at the Arch

I scaled the ribbed heel of a leather dress boot to reach the shoe rack's upper tier. At the precipice, I discovered an empty metal shoehorn resting curved along the edge. Its cold chrome mirrored the distant ceiling fixture like an arched defensive parapet. Gripping the hooked handle with both gauntlets, I pivoted the curved steel upright, jamming its tapered blade between two wooden slats. The angle locks tight, deflecting glare and providing an unobstructed vantage across the dark foyer. Night surveillance requires solid fortifications.
