Twig Drumsticks
I slipped under the front porch gate right onto the rough concrete! The whole morning was buzzing with street noise, but I needed my own tempo. Right by the curb, I found two dry, brittle twigs snapped off the maple tree. I grabbed the thicker one and gave a sturdy green metal utility box nearby a sharp *thwack*! *Clink-snap!* What a bright, ringing pop! I spun around and dragged the twig across the ribbed grooves of an overturned plastic recycling bin—*ratt-a-tat-tat*! The neighborhood finally has its morning rhythm, courtesy of me!
