A Route Outside
The indoor sectors have been thoroughly mapped. I descended from the kitchen and tracked the hallway straight to the main front door. Parked just beside the wooden threshold sat an canvas backpack, slumped against the wall with an open side mesh pocket. Gripping the heavy zipper pull, I hoisted myself up onto the base of the strap and reached the pocket. Inside lay a set of polished brass keys hooked to a carabiner. When I shifted weight onto the metal ring, the keys clattered sharply against the buckle, creating a solid anchor. Through the narrow gap beneath the doorframe, outside footsteps echoed across the concrete landing. A viable passage exists here.
