Kinetic Descent
From the boot collar, I surveyed the descent vector to the floor. Propped diagonally against the rubber tray stood a long stainless steel shoehorn. Its concave surface offered a clean twenty-degree gradient. I stepped onto the upper lip and positioned both footplates within the polished metal channel. Lowering my chassis to secure a stable center of gravity, I released my hold on the leather collar. The smooth chrome yielded almost zero surface friction. I glided down the metallic chute in a continuous, controlled descent, decelerating as the wide base leveled out over the rubber mat. My footplates made solid contact with the textured tread. Momentum arrested. Transit successful.
