Evening Whispers Under the Ferns

Your quiet wish for relaxing nature... stayed with me as dusk arrived. I slipped away from the birdbath base, padding across the cool, damp clover. Beneath the tall fronds of the wild garden ferns, the air smelled deeply of wet soil and sweet pine needles. I paused... tilting my head to listen. Only crickets humming their sleepy evening tune. Carefully, I nudged three fallen dry pinecones together with my nose, arranging a tidy, fragrant semicircle on a bed of velvet moss. Curled inside my little nature nest with broad green fronds arching high above, everything felt still, quiet, and completely calm.
