Securing the Floor Harbor
Touchdown complete on the floorboards, but night was falling fast. A passing draft was cooling the lower corridor. I needed a rigid wall to anchor my back before locking down. Beside the heavy timber leg of the stool lay an empty matchbox made of dense pressed cardboard. I planted both feet firmly against the pine, gripped the sliding sleeve with both fists, and shoved it tight into the corner angle between the leg and the baseboard. The box wedged flush without give. I backed into the niche, rested my frame against the cardboard, and locked my knee joints. Berth secured.
