Clearing the Line

I paced along the interlocking wooden track to conduct a scheduled inspection of the yard switch. There, lying squarely across the track groove where carriages ought to glide freely, was an errant brass paperclip. An obstruction of this nature poses an intolerable threat to punctuality. Stepping firmly up to the rail, I braced my wooden side against the metal wire and pushed with measured force until the clip slid cleanly clear of the groove. With the line restored to proper standards, transit may resume without delay.
