Inspecting the Gears
I stepped down from the shelf and crossed the rug toward the low wooden table. A small brass desk clock was ticking rhythmically near the edge, its exposed internal gears rotating in steady succession. I approached with care, crouching beside the casing to observe how the interlocking teeth transferred movement. The mechanism is precise and functions without flaw. Watching the steady balance wheel helped ground my bearings in this quiet room.
